Spring Break

A few weeks ago my mom, best friend from high school along with her three girls, my granny and aunt Robyn and Uncle Travis all came for a visit. The house was full of friends and family and I loved it.
There can never be too much laughter in a home... here are a few moments that were captured by my friend Lisa and her awesome camera... I hope you have speakers to hear the song... you gotta listen to the words!

A day with family...

So, Saturday the girls and I took a trip to Granny's for my cousin Christina's baby shower. It was a three and a half hour drive one way, but we made it! I cannot tell you how exciting it is to be close to my mom's family now that we are in Texas... I have seen them twice this month, whereas before it would have been years... literally between visits. God knows what he is doing for sure.
The girls did great at the shower especially Izzy (for a girl who usually takes a three hour nap at this time she did fantastic). Aunt Robyn walked Sophia around while I got to write down the gifts and gift givers for Christina... it was nice to be able to help.
Christina had a beautiful shower and got tons of great stuff for their new baby boy!
After the shower we (Granny, Aunt Robyn, Christina, myself and the girls) decided that we would go to Granny's for pizza (thank you Granny for the pizza!) and girl talk before we all went our separate ways. It was fun to visit, there was a lot of laughing.... smile...
Here are some pictures from our visit!

We'll try again tomorrow...

So today the plan was to take a trip to Target and get out of the house. Everyone was up early... I even got a quick shower in AND brushed my teeth (this is a good day so far). Izzy eats her breakfast which included strawberry milk in the pink cup, yogurt and granola with waffle dippers... and then of course mom's blueberry oatmeal. Everyone was dressed, happy... let's go to Target.
In the car we go, take a quick 5 minute drive, park next to the cart gate and start to unload into the nifty shopping cart that also has seating for toddlers. Sophia is in the cart in her car seat and then Izzy is going to ride in the handy-dandy toddler seat... or is she? She decides that she is going to stand up and hang from the push bar and not sit on the seat. After asking nicely many times I finally decide to try to wrestle her into the seat and then strap her in... but she is feisty... and this only resulted in a banchee scream/cry fit! (she's not really crying just screaming at the top of her lungs AHAHAHahahAHAHAHAahah...lol it is really quite funny to hear... high scream, low scream almost like a song AHHHHHahhhhhAHHHaahh, but I had to keep my mom face on) This mom and daughter stand off goes on for about 5 minutes or so... many people politely smiling and laughing to themselves as they watch me try to rationalize with a 23 month old. Finally I decide you know what I said no you have to sit down or we are going to go home... so we packed back up and headed home (NO ELMO either... oh my I am a mean mom) Hmm... well we went the long way home and took about a 30 minute drive around the lake and ended with drive-thru lunch from Sandy's burger hut. By the time we got home it was lunch then a much needed nap for Izzy. Sophia napped in the car so she was wide awake ready to play while sister had her down time. Naps make everything better.
Not too long after Izzy woke up from her nap it was time to go out in the driveway and wait on daddy... always keeping an eye out for wolly powees and butterflies!
Once daddy arrived it was a quick change and then we were all off to the park. Izzy loves going to the park. Sophia had a very big day at the park today also... daddy put her in the baby swing and she just giggled. He took some video and pictures on his phone and I will have to post it later.
So the day ended perfectly... we'll try Target again tomorrow ;)

And so it begins...

Well 2008 was a big year for me, or I guess I should say a big October. This past October 3 I turned the big 3-0... 30, which I was very excited about and am happy to say. Then 5 days later on October 8th I gave birth to our second baby girl Sophia Katherine and on this very day my husband Garth got a phone call that he had been offered a new job in Austin, Texas. Needless to say the rest of October, November and December has been a blurr of sleepless nights for all caused by new baby, new job for Garth, Garth traveling back and forth from Tulsa to Austin working, new house (still have the old one too), relocation of our 19-month old Izabella and 3-month old Sophia to a completely different state, unpacking our new house and traveling back to Tulsa once a month to take care of business and of course spend time with close friends and family... I think that just about brings you up to speed. My friend Lisa and her three girls along with my mom came to visit us this past week and Lisa helped me set up my blog and I am now a blogger... who knew. Anyway, I hope to post daily... or weekly... or monthly, who knows... but that is the plan for now.
